Browse / Input Arabic, Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Bengali, Gujarati etc., Fonts in Nokia N900 Mobile

Except English, browsing web pages in our local languages on mobiles is still not 100% successful. Popular mobile browser Opera mini helps to read  local language web sites on mobile.

Indic Support (Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Nepali, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu , Urdu, Arabic and Sinhalese) in Nokia N900

You can browse your own language web sites in N900 flawlessly. To avail this you need to install your own language fonts to your Nokia N900.  Installing .ttf fonts is easy in Nokia N900. Is your language web pages shown good in your PC. You can see that in Nokia N900 too. All you need to do is install appropriate fonts to your N900.

In PC you can see fonts in C:/windows/fonts folder. For example
Telugu - Gautami.ttf
Kannada  - Tunga.ttf
Malayalam -  kartika.ttf
Tamil -  latha.ttf
Bengali - Vrinda.ttf
Gujarathi  - Shruti.ttf

If you want to enable Malayalam support in Nokia N900 copy karika.ttf to N900.

You can also search for your language fonts in google and download .ttf files and move to N900. Are you successfully installed fonts and view your language web sites?. Please share your language and font name in comments. That may be useful to others.



You can also input / type in Indian languages in N900. The default browser MicroB not helps in this. You must have  Firefox mobile browser for n900.

In your N900 open the url http://www.mozilla.com/m and Install Firefox. Then open firefox in N900.

Google transliterate www.google.com/transliterate/  help you to type in 23 languages ( Amharic, Arabic, Bengali, Chinese Greek, Gujarati, Hebrew, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Nepali, Oriya, Persian, Punjabi, Russian, Sanskrit, Serbian, Sinhalese, Tamil, Telugu and Tigrinya, Urdu) .



You can input in your language in Gmail, Blogger, Orkut & Knol.






You can type in your language in other websites like gmail chat, facebook, twitter using google transliterate bookmarklet. Its little bit complicated to explain. I will  update this post about this in simpler way when I have time.
