Setup Sync Google Contacts on Nokia N97

Its always good to backup your contacts in a different location. You can sync your Nokia N97 contacts with Google contacts. By using Sync, you can have access to your address book at anytime and place that you need it. Your contacts stay synchronized whether you access them from your phone or from your computer.

Add or edit contact information right on your device or on your Google account on the web.Simple steps enables this feature on your Nokia N97.

Screenshots below explains you better to setup sync your mobile contacts with google contacts. Follow the following steps.

Settings


Connectivity


Data Transfer


Sync


Options -> New sync profile


Start


Page 1 : Give any name in Profile name -> Next


Page 2 : Select Server version 1.2 -> Next


Page 3 : Select only Contacts in "Applications in sync", remove other checkmarks in that list. -> Next


Page 4 : Type "Contacts" in Contacts database field. -> Next


Page 5 :
In Data bearer select Internet -> Next


Page 6 :
In Host address give https://m.google.com/syncml. Note that 'https' is must. -> Next


Page 7 : Give "Google" in Server ID. Note that in Google , "G" must be uppercase.


Page 8 :Give your gmail ID in User name -> Next


Page 9 :Give your gmail password -> Next


Page 10 : Save this profile settings -> Yes


Thats all. Finally select "Options -> Synchronise"


Your contacts will be synchronized with Google Contacts

Can one do syncing of notes, todo also the same way? Doesn't google support others?

Excellent, that was clear and worked first time, unlike the various opaque instructions in Google Help and on the Nokia site which had me scratching my head and swearing at the cat!

It didn't work for me.
It only said: Invalid host address... :(

For those who got invalid host address, watch out for the "s" on "https". It surely will work !!!

Even with https, it still gives the "Invalid host address" error.
There was also a setting on my N97 "remote contacts database", I just called it Google.
